Do I have to wear a helmet on these tours?
YES! While some states, such as South Carolina, do not require them, most do. So, to avoid stopping at the state line just to put on a helmet (or take one off), it makes better sense to just keep them on. Also the fact that most of our riding is done at a "spirited" pace... It's is best to be on the safe side.

What if it rains?
These tours, except "Day Runs", will continue "rain or shine". Since it is rare that a tour will be a total washout, we will attempt to wait out a brief down pour. If the rain continues we will suit up with rain gear and continue on the tour.
Day Runs will be rescheduled, in the event of rain. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, You will be issued a full refund.
We suggest that you bring the rain gear of your choice. Simple inexpensive suits like you might find at discount stores are fine. Don't forget to get a size or two larger than normal, to fit over your riding gear.

What if I want to split off from the group, for example; to visit Grandma or a special attraction?
We are always flexable. We will do out best to provide easy directions for you to meet back up at the destination. We will also provide an emergency phone # for the hotel since cell phones don't generally work in these remote locations.
We can't be resposible for missed meals, etc.
What if I need to leave early to get home?
Again, we're flexible! It's not uncommon for someone to leave early Sunday morning (for example), in order to get home Sunday night for work the next day. We'll always provide simple directions for the most direct route back.
We're usually not more than 2-3 hours away from the start point via the interstate highway system, if you need to make time.
How fast do you run on these tours?
We stay within the speed limits. But remember, we're taking the back roads, often with 45-55 MPH posted speed limits, but with 15-20 MPH (advisory) curves. So you'll have plenty of fun without the risk of a roadside chat with law enforcement.
For an idea of how we run, check out "The Pace" on the links & Pix page. This is a great read before any group ride.
Will we fun fast enough to get a knee down through the curves?
Again, these are public roads. We don't condone running that close to the edge of safety. If that's what you're looking for, perhaps you should contact Monte and the guys over at "sportbiketracktime.com" and sign up for a track day. They can hook you up!
I notice different types of bikes listed for different tours, what if I want to ride my cruiser on a "sport" ride, or a standard on a "cruiser" ride?
The bike types listed are "suggested" for the type of run. You can ride what ever you like. Please note, for example, the day runs to deals gap and T.W.O. are very "SPORT" oriented, requiring a reasonable amount of lean angle to negotiate the curves. And since we cover a lot of miles in one day, most cruisers would not be recomended.
What if I can't keep up with the group?
No one will get left behind. Again, click on "THE PACE" on the links & pix page for an idea of the type of pace we try to maintain. We may get stretched out a little bit in the curves but we'll tighten back up in the straits, as well as regroup at any location that requires a turn onto a new road.
Also there will usually be either a clean-up rider or a chase vehicle pulling up the rear.
What skill level would be required for these tours?
We require at least two years of motorcycle riding experience. These tours are not designed for beginners
How much cash should I bring for lunch and/ or shopping?
You only really NEED cash for lunch and it is usually of the quick sandwich variety. Also since Breakfast and Dinner are provided on overnight runs you won't have to worry about that. As for shopping, that is purely subjective.
Do we stop for shopping, suveniers etc.
Not generally. Although some of the places we stop will have suveniers, t-shits etc., we don't specifically stop for them. We can stop on occasion for shopping but if stopping at every tourist trap is what you want... We might suggest a BUS Tour, rather than a motorcycle tour... (just kidding!)
When do we stop for meals?
Breakfast is always at the starting point of the tour. Lunch is usually between 11:30-1:30, depending on the tour and availability of suitable locations. Dinner will be at the destination (or overnight lodging location) usually at a steak house or other resturaunt at or near the hotel.
What if I can't meet at the starting point of the tour? Can I meet up along the way?
You should make every effort to make it to the meet point on time. If you know you can't be there, and must meet along the way, contact us and we will try to work out a secondary meet point. You will have to make sure and sign and return all release forms etc. in advance of the tour.
Can you arrange a tour on a differnt date than you have listed?
Yes. Cantact us at info@doubleyellowmotorcycletours.com with the dates and tour you would like, as well as the number of riders and we will take care of all the planning. (Subject to avialability)
All available tours can be arranged to meet your schedule. All we need is (generally) 60 days notice to secure lodging.
Again,subject to avilability of accomodations.
What if we have a group of more than the 6 rider limit?
We try to keep the group down to 6 riders but if you have a group of 7-8 then we can still book your tour, but please book early. Also, if we have for example, 4 slots already booked and you have a group of 3, then we can still work your group in. The goal is a maximum of 6, but we can be flexible up to 8. Any larger groups can be handled by "special arrangement" only.
When do you close registration for a perticular tour?
Either when we reach 6 bikes or 30 days before the tour, on multi-night runs. (1 week prior to tour on dayruns)
What if I have to cancel?
If you cancel 30 days prior to the tour, full refund. Less than 30 days (but more than 2 weeks) 50% refund or full credit on future tour. Less than 2 weeks, no refund.
What riding gear do you require?
We only require a DOT helmet, LONG pants (no shorts) and over the ankle boots for each rider and passenger.
We wear gloves, riding suits (textile or leather) and boots... and we suggest that you do too for the purpose of protecting you in the event of a crash.
What if I break down?
We expect you to have your bike checked out mechanicaly prior to a tour and have reasonably fresh tires.
In the event of a break douwn or crash, every effort will be made to help you get your bike to a shop in the area. When possible you (and your bike)will be transported in the chase vehicle, while we continue on the tour. We will provide you with information on shops at the destination if you choose to get a repair.
Why do I only count 19 questions?
Because that's all we can think of!!!! Besides, this one makes #20!! If you have a better question, submit it to us at questions(at)doubleyellowmotorcycletours(dot)com, if it's a good question, we'll post it!
